PS5: Big upgrade available today that brings folders, 1440p and more

The new system software update has been released

After a few weeks of testing, Sony today made the new major PlayStation 5 software update available to all owners of the console worldwide.

Going into details, this new update brings several features that have been requested by the community for a long time, such as the ability to output natively to screens and 1440p resolution monitors . This means that upscaling from 1080p will no longer be needed and thus the display will be much sharper, with less aliasing. At the same time, gamelists were added , which are essentially folders.

This means you can now organize your lists even better by going to “Your Collection” and choosing “Create Gamelist”. In total you can create up to 15 Gamelists, with 100 games in each.

In addition, the new update brings various social features , such as the ability to Share Screen with a member of your party, the ability to receive notifications to enter friends’ parties faster, etc. Finally, the ability to directly compare 3D sound and simple stereo sound has been added, to make it easier to compare and decide which option you prefer.
