Hercules: Disney’s live-action remake will be inspired by the TikTok generation

The remake to be directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by the Russo brothers

We’ve known for some time that Disney ‘s Hercules will soon receive a live-action remake in the vein of “Aladdin” and ” The Lion King ,” but based on the 1997 animated film that was loved by millions.

The Russo brothers (directors of Avengers: Endgame ) are executive producing the film through their ABGO studio, despite making it clear that they won’t be returning to Marvel Studios until the end of this decade.

Since they work for Disney, they revealed some of their plans for the Hercules remake to be directed by Guy Ritchie (Aladdin, Snatch ). Among the information that they revealed and are expected to be commented on variously is that Disney ‘s new live action “Hercules” will be inspired by the TikTok generation .

Indeed, as they stated, it will be basically a musical film and how it will be quite experimental:

There are questions about how you translate it as a musical. The public today has been educated by TikTok, right? What are their expectations of what this musical looks and feels like? This can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries a bit on how a modern musical is performed.

We still do not know who the cast of the film is, although this may be clarified soon.

For the record the first movie Hercules: Beyond the Myth was released in June 1997, with the box office counting over $252.7 million dollars.

In 1999, it was followed by a direct-to-video sequel,  Hercules: Zero to Hero , which also served as the pilot for the animated television series,  Hercules: The Series . The TV series focuses on the time Hercules was in Prometheus’ academy.
