Twitter hack: Over 200 million email addresses leaked
The rumors are confirmed
Rumors of a Twitter hack are confirmed by another security researcher, Alon Gal of the Israeli cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock, who said that the email addresses of more than 200 million Twitter users have been leaked and posted on an online hacking forum.
The blow will unfortunately lead to hacking, targeted phishing and doxing. It’s one of the biggest security leaks we’ve seen.
Twitter has not responded to any questions about the incident, which was first reported on December 24.

There is no information on the identity or location of the hacker or hackers behind the attack, while initial reports from late December suggested that 400 million email addresses had been stolen. Government agencies on both sides of the ocean are monitoring Twitter to see if it complies with data protection laws in Europe and the US.
