Starlink: How many people actually use Elon Musk’s satellite Internet?

The service reached a new milestone

As we recently informed you , Starlink , SpaceX ‘s network of satellites that offers internet access to even the most remote areas of the Earth, has reached a major milestone. In particular, it was announced that it can provide coverage to all the continents of the planet, namely Asia, America, Africa, Europe, Oceania, even Antarctica.

Now, through his personal Twitter account, the head and founder of the famous aerospace technology company, Elon Musk , revealed a new important statistic about Starlink. In particular, we learned that SpaceX has now manufactured over 1 million terminals for users . This is the hardware that is necessary to achieve a satellite connection.

Obviously the number of terminals is not equal to the number of end users, since some parts may for example be intended for replacements for existing owners. Again, however, the statistic gives us an idea of how many people end up using Elon Musk’s satellite Internet. So apparently, the number of users is approaching a million, with applications all over the planet.

For example, a few days ago, Musk shared an image showing a remote school in the Amazon using Starlink to connect to the internet.

For the record, the whole venture started in 2019 with the launch of 60 satellites. Now the network consists of more than 2,300 satellites, serving more than 500 thousand active subscribers worldwide. The service also debuted in our country at the beginning of May 2022.
