Tom Cruise: His space movie will make history for one more reason   

The Universal Studios boss revealed that the star will also do a spacewalk

Tom Cruise ‘s space film will break many records and many firsts at the same time, that’s all for sure . Without even having a title yet, the film in question is one of the most interesting and long-awaited film projects, whose cost is currently estimated at around $200 million . 

Now, through Universal Pictures boss Donna Langley, we’ve learned that the action movie set in space will make history for one more reason. 

Speaking to the BBC, Langley said Tom Cruise “ hopes ” to become ” the first civilian to do a spacewalk “ outside the International Space Station. And this because for the needs of filming, it will have to be in the vast void of space. 

This whole concept seems insanely crazy but not crazy enough for the risk-taking Tom Cruise, who flirts with such daring situations in all of his movie stunts, which he performs himself. 

” Tom Cruise is going to take us into space. He’s going to take the world into space. That’s the plan ,” Langley told the BBC.

“We have a great project in development with Tom that is actually looking at doing just that. Rocketing up to the space station, filming and hopefully becoming the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station. “.

At that point, the Universal boss confirmed the information we had heard before that in fact most of the film will take place on Earth and that ” the protagonist will need to travel into space to save the world “. This “first” will probably go to another, equally innovative, Russian production .

It is said to be ” partially shot on the International Space Station ” and some other scenes will be shot ” inside a SpaceX rocket .”

For his space stunts Cruise will be paid according to his range, with reports that his fee will be between $30 million and $60 million , according to insiders. 

Tom Cruise’s new adventure is not considered science fiction but a classic action adventure that will play a ” lucky-in-the-luck guy who finds himself in the dire position of being the only man who can save the Earth .” And that certainly sounds familiar to the 60-year-old star.

It is worth mentioning that it will be shot in collaboration with  NASA and SpaceX  inside the  International Space Station in terms of the sequences that will be shot in space.
