Tim Cook revealed for the first time which company’s camera sensors the iPhones use
The world has a drum…
Apple is extremely secretive about the technical characteristics of its products, as well as its suppliers. But during a visit by Tim Cook to Sony’s CMOS sensor production facilities in Japan, he made a surprising revelation.
We’ve worked with Sony for over a decade to create the world’s best camera sensors for iPhones. Thanks to Ken and everyone on the team for showing me around the state-of-the-art facility in Kumamoto today.
While there were rumors that Sony supplied sensors for the iPhones camera, this has never been officially confirmed by Apple until today. We don’t have official placements for batteries, chips or screens either. Analysts, however, say that Corning takes over the front and back glass of the iPhones, Samsung and LG supply the majority of the OLED screens and TSMC manufactures the chips.
