LG has successfully tested data transfer over 6G

THz speeds

LG performed a data transfer over a 6G network over a distance of 320 meters in an outdoor environment in Berlin, Germany. The frequency used was between 155GHz and 175GHz and is considered an important step towards the implementation of the 6G network in a city environment.

With the success of our latest demonstration, we are one step closer to realizing 6G speeds at 1 terabit (TB) per second, both in indoor and outdoor city spaces. We expect 6G to drive new experiences for businesses and users, and there’s no place we’d rather be at the forefront of this development. – Dr. Kim Byoung-hoon, LG Electronics

Compared to 5G, 6G will bring 50 times faster data speeds and reduce latency by 10 times, offering greater reliability. The theoretical maximum that 5G can achieve is 5Gbps, while commercial implementation has so far achieved 3Gbps. 6G is expected to start receiving licenses and approvals in 2025 and commercial rollout is expected to begin in 2029.
