Google Wants to Turn Your Phone into a Car Camera (PICTURE)
Time to dig out the old smartphone from the drawer
Screenshots from an upgrade that Google is preparing has been published by 9to5Google , which show that Android phones will be able to function as car cameras. The company’s internal test was accidentally uploaded to Google Play where it was discovered.
The Personal Safety application will allow the recording of compressed video in the background for up to 24 hours, even with the screen turned off, while it will also allow the simultaneous use of other applications such as Google Maps. The user will also be able to set specific commands, such as the automatic connection to a Bluetooth device or the ability to start recording as soon as the vehicle is started, while there will be an option not to record sound if the user does not want it. The videos that the user does not save will be deleted after three days.

There are already several dashcam apps on Android and iOS, but they have several limitations in using the phone, filling up its storage space, overheating it while in use, and micro-vibrations can cause problems with the camera’s optical stabilization mechanisms.
In theory, Google has thought of all this before offering its own native solution. It is not yet known when the new feature will come and to which phones. If it is not limited to pixels though, it will definitely be a good use for old smartphones.
