Apple: Serious problem with iCloud for Windows – It shows photos from strangers!

Unknown when this issue will be fixed

In recent hours, many users who use iCloud on Windows , have serious problems with corrupted files and videos. However, there are also many reports that some people are also seeing material from strangers inside the “Photos” app.

Specifically, there are many complaints from users who have iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro that the videos they record and sync to iCloud for Windows are not even visible. Instead, they see a black screen with lines, without the videos playing .

More worryingly, some people are seeing photos and videos from strangers that were not taken by them when they try to click on these corrupted videos.

Macrumors user reports the following:

Windows iCloud shows videos recorded by iPhone 14 Pro Max as corrupted making them appear black and streaked. In rare cases, photos appear from unknown sources, possibly from other people’s accounts.
He has shown me family photos of other people that I have never seen in my life, from football games and other random photos. Obviously, this is extremely concerning and doesn’t make me feel at all safe using iCloud.

It’s not clear if these photos belong to other users using iCloud, but it’s very possible. So far, Apple has not announced anything officially. This issue occurs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 and appears to only affect devices that have captured footage with HDR and HEVC.

Deleting iCloud from Windows doesn’t fix the problem, so it must be an issue with Apple’s servers.
