Darren Aronofsky ‘s ” Whale ” is galloping at the Oscars 2023 , after the emphatic victory of the protagonist Brendan Fraser (Brendan Fraser) at the Critics’ Choice Awards 2023 .
Taking to the stage, the 54-year-old star of The Mummy films, who in The Whale is literally playing the role of his career, gave a speech that left no one unmoved, especially social media users.
Fraser thanked his co-stars one by one, speaking highly of Stranger Things ‘ Sadie Sink and Hong Chow who co-starred and directed the film.
While talking about Aronofsky he admitted the state of his career in Hollywood saying: “Darren Aronofsky, when you found me I was in the dark. Like any great director does, you just showed me where to go to get to where I needed to be. ”
The part of his speech, however, that got him moving and moved social media was when he addressed those who are dealing with obesity and struggling with their mental health. In the film Fraser plays an isolated and obese 270kg man who tries to reconnect with his daughter.
“If you’re like Charlie, who I play in the film, and somehow you’re struggling with obesity or you feel like you’re swimming in a dark sea, I want you to know that if you have the strength, step up and walk towards the light , only good things are going to happen to you ,” said the star of The Whale, who is perhaps the biggest favorite for the Best Actor Oscar, with teary eyes and a trembling voice.
