The third patch for The Last of Us Part I on PC has arrived – All the changes

Which focuses mainly on crashes

True to their promise, Naughty Dog , in collaboration with the Iron Galaxy development team, have just released the third hotfix update for The Last of Us Part I on PC . Unfortunately, the long-awaited port of the award-winning experience to computers arrived with many problems, since among others the community complained about crashes, stuttering, very long load times, poor optimization, mouse jitter, visual glitches and other issues.

So, the new patch, which has version code v1.0.1.7 , undertakes to fix some of these problems, focusing in particular on crashes. Unfortunately the patch does not fix the camera issues for players who play with a mouse, as the solution that Naughty Dog had promised turned out to be unready and so will come in another upcoming update.

At the same time, Nvidia also released the new drivers 531.58 for its graphics cards, solving for its part some problems that led to crashes for owners of RTX 3000 GPUs. Of course, Naughty Dog recommends that everyone upgrade their graphics driver to the latest version available.

Here are all the changes in The Last of Us Part I patch v1.0.1.7 for PC:

The remaining updates for this hotfix include fixes for UI/UX, unintended character behavior (both playable and NPC), and more. It also features additions to diagnostic support.

  • Fixed an issue which could cause the Xbox controller stick inputs to erroneously read as zeros for brief periods of time
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Reset to Default’ function in the Graphics menu under Settings could make improper selections
  • Fixed an issue where the HUD performance monitors could impact performance when enabled
  • Fixed an issue where a crash could occur when using [ALT+ENTER] to toggle between Fullscreen and Windowed modes
  • Fixed an issue where a memory crash could occur during the transition from the end of the game into the credits sequence
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash while the game was launched
  • Added additional crash report logs to provide further insight for developers

If you want a refresher, in his review for Unboxholics.com for the PS5 version, Giorgos Pritskas had mentioned:

If you’ve never played The Last of Us, then this is a great opportunity to play a gorgeous and reverently faithful remake of one of the most important games of the 21st century. I’m not just recommending it, I’m urging you to get it. On the other hand, if you’ve played it, it’s hard to help you make your choice. We are certainly not talking about a “rapture”, just as we are not talking about something radically new. Whether it’s worth the money it’s asking for is, after all, something subjective. Check it out, play it a bit if you can, and then decide if it’s worth the investment.
