RUMOR: PS5 remaster/remake for the first Horizon Zero Dawn is coming

While an online multiplayer chapter is also being prepared

According to a report by MP1ST , which was later confirmed by VGC , PlayStation is preparing a remake or remaster of the first Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5 . This is the open world title from Guerilla Games, which was first released in 2017 for PS4, starting a new franchise.

At the moment it is not clear if we are dealing with a remaster or a complete remake made from scratch, like the recent The Last of Us Part I. However, one of MP1ST’s sources pointed out that the game will come with an improved lighting system , higher resolution textures, better animations and new character models, bringing the technical field at least on par with Horizon Forbidden West.

In addition, it is reported that the remake/remaster will bring all the accessibility options that the sequel has, while the graphics options will not be missing, with players being able to choose between performance or better graphics quality. There will be some quality of life improvements to the gameplay, however there is no word on whether we can expect other bigger additions, such as Forbidden West’s flyable mounts.

In fact, the reports of the two media do not stop here, since it seems that Guerrilla Games is also working on another Horizon project . In particular, the studio sounds like it is preparing an online multiplayer Horizon game for PlayStation 5 and PC . The title is rumored to feature some form of co-op, with customization revolving around the various tribes.

At this point it is worth mentioning that Guerrilla Games wanted to incorporate co-op from the first Horizon, as we saw in the concept art images that were leaked in 2014, however this never happened. In fact, it is reported that the team once again wanted to integrate multiplayer features into Forbidden West, but ultimately decided to prepare a standalone spin-off or leave the idea for Horizon 3.

For now, PlayStation has not made any official announcement, so we suggest you take the above information with caution.
