While Sons of the Forest , the sequel to the hit “The Forest” by Endnight Games, is sweeping sales , its players have fallen in love with one of its NPCs.
Meet Kelvin, the companion character of the single-player part of the game, who wants to bring to it some of the facilities of multiplayer. Kelvin is one of the survivors of the helicopter that crashed and trapped you on the island and is there to help you survive.
So what does this AI companion do? You can give it instructions through a notebook and it will do some work for you . You communicate with him through a notebook, as he is unable to speak due to the trauma he suffered from the accident.
Kelvin can fish for you and stack the fish, chop wood for you and other such menial jobs so you can focus on other tasks. Of course, if he’s thirsty he’ll go find water, he’ll ask you for food and if he’s tired he’ll light a fire to rest, while if you stretch him he’ll start to complain and lose his productivity.
The company of the AI companion seems to be enjoyed by players in their single-player sessions, so much so that a wave of adoration broke out on social media for him.
