I Am Legend 2: Will have “The Last of Us” influences and we learned how the story will continue

Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan will star in the film’s sequel

The sequel to I Am Legend has been known since last March , as it will star Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan . But how Warner Bros. will continue the story of “I Am Legend” since the film was somewhat closed for good, we now learn.

The news comes from Akiva Goldsman , the well-known producer and screenwriter, who will return, we learn from Deadline, to write the script for I Am Legend 2.  He himself adapted the famous best-selling book by Richard Matheson that was released in 1954 .

Who will be key to I Am Legend 2? As Goldsman reveals, he is in the alternative ending of the book that Matheson had written, while we learned that it will also have a flavor of The Last of Us.

As Goldsman says: I’m psyched about The Last of Us, where we see the world post-apocalypse, but also 20-30 years later. You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there is something beautiful in the question, as man moves away from being the primary inhabitant, what happens? This will be particularly visible in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless.”

He adds: “We’re going back to Matheson’s original book and the alternate ending as opposed to the ending that was released in the first movie. What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. This it’s a very interesting subject that we’re going to explore. There’s going to be a little more fidelity to the original text.”

I Am Legend was released in theaters in 2007 and brought in over $585 million dollars worldwide at the box office, on a budget of $150 million.

Will Smith is currently preparing for his return as “Bad Boy” with Bad Boys 4 alongside Martin Lawrence.

Michael B. Jordan returns both inside and outside the ring in the long-awaited Creed 3 , where he both stars and makes his directorial debut.
