Spotify is testing direct sales of concert tickets

With physical presence but also livestream

As first reported by Music Ally , Spotify is testing selling concert tickets directly to its users. Through the Spotify Tickets site , users can get tickets for concerts by a few artists who have collaborated so far in the US, such as Limbeck, Annie DiRusso, Dirty Honey, Crows, Tokimonsta and Osees.

As reported by TechCrunch , Spotify’s legal content page clarifies that the company sells tickets on behalf of third parties and includes live performances with physical presence as well as livestreams. This means that Spotify does not set the price of the tickets. This is done by the show organizers, however Spotify will keep a percentage of the ticket price, which is revealed during checkout.

At Spotify we often test new products and ideas to improve the user experience. Some of it goes to the end user and some we just learn from. tickets.spotify.com is our latest test. We have no further news to share about our future plans at this time. – Spotify representative

To book a ticket through Spotify, one must have an account with the service. He will not immediately receive a hard copy of the ticket, but will need to show his confirmation email and ID at the concert box office to obtain his ticket. In this way, Spotify ensures that no one will be able to resell their ticket online.
