God of War: The series is officially coming to Amazon Prime Video – First information
With strong contributors behind the cameras
After months of rumors and reports, the official announcement has come: God of War is becoming a TV series for the first time and will come to the Amazon Prime Video service .
Amazon made the revelations through Prime Video’s Twitter account, accompanying it with a wallpaper of God of War (2018) and a modest caption writing that ” God of War is coming” .

First plot information
From the official synopsis released to the public we learn that the plot will be based on the 2018 God of War reboot and thus we will see Kratos self-exile in the Norse kingdom of Midgard, wanting to leave behind his bloody past as the Greek God of War. So we will see Kratos and Atreus for the first time in live-action.
“When his beloved wife dies, Kratos embarks on a perilous journey with his estranged son to scatter her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s last wish. Kratos soon realizes that the journey is an epic adventure in disguise, which will test the bonds between father and son and force the State to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”
Through the report of THR we learn that Amazon has hired talented and powerful names behind the cameras to bring to fruition the series of the multi-awarded game from Santa Monica Studio. Rafe Judkins, creator of Amazon ‘s The Wheel of Time series , is taking over as project leader and showrunner, while Oscar nominees Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (of Children of Men , Iron Man and The Expanse ) have taken over the God of War TV script.
Executive producers are the aforementioned three, while Cory Barlog will also serve as an executive producer, being the creator of God of War (2018). A similar position was given to Naughty Dog ‘s Neil Druckmann in The Last of Us series , being the game’s creator. Produced by Sony Pictures Television , PlayStation Productions and Amazon Studios .
Who will play?
It is still too early to know about the casting and which actors will play Kratos and Atreus in the Amazon series. However, Christopher Judge who is the Kratos of video games, as he gives his voice and does the motion capture, has already put forward a nomination through social media .
So Amazon is also getting into the live-action video game adaptation game in partnership with Sony Pictures as another major PlayStation exclusive gets a series in addition to HBO’s The Last of Us (January 15, 2023), Peacock ‘s Twisted Metal , Netflix ‘s Horizon Zero Dawn . Also in the works is Bethesda ‘s Fallout series from Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan .
When is the god of war series coming out?
No information has been given as to when the God of War series will hit our screens, nor a release window.
