Berserk: The original anime of the legendary manga is coming to Netflix!

Within the next month

Very soon, the first Berserk anime will arrive on Netflix . We are talking about the original series by director Naohito Takahashi and animation studio OLM (Oriental Light & Magic) that premiered in 1997. This show will enrich the service’s catalog from December , so its subscribers will be able to enjoy the beginning of Guts’ story while he was a mercenary under the leadership of Griffith.

In total, the said anime consists of 25 episodes and is an adaptation of the “Black Swordsman” and “Golden Age” arcs of the manga. It is worth noting that this particular anime is not related to the one from 2016, which was criticized by many fans (among other things for the use of CGI). In contrast, the series coming to Netflix was a hit in its day, greatly helping the manga’s appeal and consequently spawning the Golden Age film trilogy in 2012.

At this point it’s worth mentioning that the official website for the Berserk anime now has a countdown to mid-December, so the Netflix addition may just be the beginning. Maybe another announcement is in the works.

For the record, it’s been about two years since the death of legendary artist Kentaro Miura, who was entirely responsible for the creation of the Berserk manga, which has sold over 35 million copies over its 41 issues. Of course, the series will continue after his death, with his close friend, Kouji Mori, taking over the reins for the next issue.
